The Best Peruvian Restaurants in Utah: Depending on What You’re Looking For

Finding good Peruvian food in Utah can sometimes be difficult. Since we are in the United States, the ingredients and products are not always the same as the ones we have in Peru. Because of this, it can be challenging to find food that tastes exactly like home.

However, there are several Peruvian restaurants in Utah that come close to the flavors and traditions I grew up with. As a Peruvian, I want to share some of my personal recommendations and help you find a restaurant depending on what you are craving.

This is not an official ranking. Everyone has different tastes, and what I like may not be the same as what someone else enjoys. Instead, my goal is to help people who are looking for Peruvian food in Utah and want to know what to expect before choosing a restaurant.

1. Peru 51 — Best for Everyday Peruvian Food

Address: 355 S State St, Orem, UT 84058

If you live in Orem and want Peruvian food for a casual meal, Peru 51 is a great option. The prices are reasonable, the portions are generous, and you get a lot of food for your money.

One of my favorite dishes there is the ceviche. If you are looking for a traditional Peruvian dish with fresh and familiar flavors, this is one of the dishes I would recommend trying.

Best for: Ceviche, generous portions, and a casual Peruvian meal.

2. Killa Nikkei — Best for a More Special Meal

Address: 279 E 300 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84111

Killa Nikkei is a little more expensive than some traditional Peruvian restaurants, but it is a good option when you want something a little more special.

If you are visiting for the first time, I would recommend trying a Pisco Sour to start. It is one of Peru’s most famous cocktails and a great way to experience a classic Peruvian flavor.

For food, you can try one of their Peruvian dishes, such as lomo saltado, while also exploring the restaurant’s Nikkei-style dishes. The combination of Peruvian and Japanese influences makes the experience different from a traditional Peruvian restaurant.

Best for: Pisco Sours, Peruvian flavors, and a special Nikkei dining experience.

3. Peruvian’s Bunker — Best for Lomo Saltado

Address: 360 S State St, Ste 107, Orem, UT 84058

If you are craving lomo saltado, Peruvian’s Bunker would be one of my first choices. Lomo saltado is one of the most popular Peruvian dishes, combining beef, onions, tomatoes, French fries, and a flavorful sauce.

My favorite is the lomo saltado with tallarines a la huancaína. I also recommend their Amazonian chaufa if you want to try something a little different.

Best for: Lomo saltado, tallarines a la huancaína, and Amazonian-inspired dishes.

4. Mixturas Fusion — Best for Something Different

Address: 845 N 100 W #103, Orem, UT 84057

Mixturas Fusion is a good choice if you want to try something different while still enjoying Peruvian flavors.

Their Peruvian maki boat is one of the dishes I would recommend, especially if you like sushi. Their pollo a la brasa is also a good option if you are looking for a more traditional Peruvian favorite.

This restaurant is a fun option for people who enjoy fusion cuisine and want to experience Peruvian food in a different way.

Best for: Fusion dishes, Peruvian maki, and pollo a la brasa.

Conclusion

Finding a good Peruvian restaurant in Utah can depend on what you are looking for. Whether you are craving ceviche, lomo saltado, pollo a la brasa, a Pisco Sour, or something more creative, there are different options to explore.

These restaurants are some of my personal recommendations, but everyone has different tastes. One of the best things about exploring Peruvian restaurants in Utah is discovering which flavors and dishes remind you most of home.

I hope this guide helps you find a Peruvian restaurant in Utah that you enjoy and makes you feel a little closer to the flavors of Peru. 🇵🇪
